Behavioural signs
- Spending more time or money than planned, or chasing losses.
- Hiding spending or lying to family.
- Neglecting work, study, or sleep because of gambling.
Emotional signs
- Irritability when someone raises the topic or when you try to cut down.
- Anxiety or low mood linked to bets or debts.
- Using gambling to escape stress or painful feelings.
In Canada
Routes differ by province. A family doctor, nurse practitioner, or regulated mental-health clinician can discuss next steps. Charitable and public-health resources include CAMH (information), Responsible Gambling Council (education and standards context), and Gamblers Anonymous (peer meetings where available).
